Profile
Rob offers individualised, evidence-based care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions. He provides high quality diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures. His specialist interest is in hepatology (liver disease) including metabolic associated fatty liver disease, autoimmune, viral and alcohol associated liver disease and primary liver cancer (Hepatocellular carcinoma). He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago and is actively involved in research at the Clinical Trials Unit.

Rob is a graduate of St. Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine, graduating as proxime accessit to the University of London Gold Medal. He completed his basic medical training at Cambridge University Hospitals in the UK before emigrating to New Zealand. He completed advanced training in gastroenterology in the Wellington region before undertaking his fellowship in hepatology at Gold Coast University Hospital, Queensland, Australia. Rob works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Wellington Hospital and The Rutherford Clinic.
