Associate Professor Stephen Inns is a consultant gastroenterologist and general physician providing comprehensive digestive health care to patients in the Wellington Region. He works at Hutt Hospital, Wellington Hospital and The Rutherford Clinic, offering modern, evidence-based assessment and treatment across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions.

With extensive experience in both hospital and specialist practice, Stephen is trusted to manage complex and difficult-to-diagnose gastrointestinal problems. He is known for clear communication, practical management plans, and a collaborative approach with general practitioners to ensure continuity of care.

He completed a three-year fellowship in luminal gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy at University College Hospital, London. He remains actively involved in clinical research and national quality initiatives aimed at improving digestive health outcomes in New Zealand. He also serves as Medical Lead for Research at Health NZ, supporting clinical trials and improving access to evidence-based treatments.

He is accredited by Southern Cross for upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, balloon enteroscopy, and Bravo™ 48-hour wireless oesophageal pH monitoring.
